Reseller fees and sources
These are the rules the calculator uses, for US sellers selling to US buyers. Each one comes from the platform's official pages, last checked on . Sales tax isn't modelled.
eBay
Checked
- Final value fee: 13.6% of the total sale (item + shipping) up to $7,500, then 2.35%, for most categories.
- Some categories differ: books and media 15.3%, trading cards and coins 13.25%, guitars 6.7%, handbags, jewelry and watches 15% with lower rates above a threshold.
- Athletic shoes of $150 or more: 8% and no per-order fee.
- Per-order fee: $0.30 on orders of $10 or less, $0.40 above.
- Promoted Listings (optional): the ad rate you choose, on the total sale, only when the sale came from an ad click.

Good to know
- eBay also charges fees on sales tax; this calculator leaves tax out, so real fees are slightly higher.
- Sellers rated Below Standard pay 6% more; eBay Store subscribers get lower rates. Neither is modelled.
- eBay's own Promoted Listings help page could not be read (bot check); the rule comes from eBay's developer docs.
Poshmark

- Sales under $15: flat $2.95 fee.
- Sales of $15 and over: 20% of the sale price.
- The buyer pays the shipping label, so shipping is not part of the fee and you don't pay it, unless you offer a shipping discount.
Good to know
- Poshmark's support article could not be fetched; the rule comes from Poshmark's own FAQ settings and the article's published summary.
- The $6.49 label price is inferred from Poshmark's shipping-discount options, not stated on a page.
Mercari
Checked
- Selling fee: 10% of the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays (listings since January 6, 2025).
- No payment processing fee for sellers.
Good to know
- Cash-out fees (Instant Pay $3) and cancellation fees are not included.
- Many older calculators still add 2.9% + $0.50; Mercari no longer charges that to sellers.
Depop
Checked
- No selling fee for US sellers.
- Payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 on the item price plus shipping.
- Boosted listings (optional): 12% when the sale came from a boost (US listings since March 23, 2026).
Good to know
- Processing is also charged on sales tax, which this calculator leaves out.
- The boost fee here includes the shipping you charge; it doesn't apply to shipping on Depop's own labels.
